Airbnb has listed a rare night's stay in one of Paris' most recognisable landmarks.

For the first time in its history, the Moulin Rouge will invite guests to sleep over in a "secret room" in the venue's iconic red windmill, according to the listing.

For $1.49 (€1) for the night, up to three guests will get the chance to book the one-off experience, which comes with a curated cabaret-themed evening packed with VIP inclusions.

Among the perks is backstage theatre access, a chef-prepared three-course meal, tickets to the club's show Féerie, and an overnight stay in a specially-created windmill boudoir and private rooftop terrace.

The experience will begin with a private tour of the venue, delving into its history, costumes and backstage nooks.

Guests will get a meet-and-greet with the show's lead dancer, Claudine van den Bergh, and a photo session on stage with the cast of the show.

Van den Bergh will also play host, by personally escorting guests to their boudoir for the night.

The bedroom space itself has been specially themed for the venue and occasion.

Van den Bergh said: "The Belle Époque-inspired interior of our much loved windmill will transport guests to the era from which this timeless cabaret emerged."

Airbnb has paid tribute to the site's history, by filling the room with art nouveau pieces, including a miniature paper stage, and creating a dressing room filled with Belle Epoque accessories including vintage costumes and perfumes.

Guests may even stumble upon "letters from admirers", according to the booking platform.

A festoon-lit private rooftop terrace encircling the windmill has been given an era-appropriate makeover, which includes the addition of an ornate pagoda and antique-style garden furniture.

Australians can submit a request to secure one of three exclusive overnight stays from May 18 at 3am, Australia time (AEST) via the website listing.

Past Airbnb activations have included a '90s-themed night in the world's last Blockbuster video store, a festive stay inside a Melbourne Myer department store, a sleepover in the original Spice Bus from the 1997 Spice World movie, and a stay in the House of Gucci palazzo.
